 “If there is a will, there is a way”, and how true it is, for Ajit Singh, Manager (ACMC), Axis Bank, who is a registered trainee of VRC-H, Kolkata.

Ajit had become Orthopaedically impaired, after a freak accident, in his childhood.  After completing graduation, he approached VRC-H, Kolkata, in 2003, to seek guidance, to streamline his future activity, as he was not sure of how to earn his livelihood and support his family.

After evaluation, Ajit was taken as a trainee in Commercial Unit,Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Replica Watches to undergo training in Stenography and Computer, and also prepare for competitive exams; under the able tutelage of the instructor and other senior personnel. Hard work and determination, coupled with constant guidance and support from VRC-H, enabled Ajit to complete his training in 2004, with full credit.

In the year 2005, application of Ajit and other suitably qualified candidates were forwarded to the then UTI Bank, now Axis Bank, in connection with a recruitment process for the post of ‘Executive’.  Prior to the written examination, extensive practice classes and counseling sessions were arranged at VRC, for the benefit of all the prospective candidates.

Finally, Ajit qualified, in both written test and interview and joined UTI Bank in March, 2006, as Executive.  He has further qualified in departmental exams and after being promoted to the post of Deputy Manager, he is now Manager (ACMC), Axis Bank.

Ajit is now happily married, and is the proud father of a beautiful daughter.  He has overcome all the hurdles caused by his disability, and with total guidance from VRC, is today a complete and successful man.

Disability: Hearing Impaired

Abu Muchha registered candidate of this center is a hearing impaired person, hailing from a remote village in 24 Pgs N, after qualifying Madhyamik exam he had approached VRC for registration and guidance. After evaluation, he had undergone a one year Skill training program in Toy making and further attended Skill cum technical up gradation program in Fashion Designing, which is recognized by the State Council of Technical Education, Government of West Bengal. As he was motivated to take up Self employment, he was also advised to undergo a short term course on Financial Management training under Ministry of Small Scale Industries, Government of India. After completion of training, he was counseled to take up independent Self Employment venture around the Center assisted him to prepare a project profile and recommended to NHFDC, which sanctioned him an amount of Rs. 50000/- to initiate his project.

Appropriate counseling and guidance, at the crucial juncture of decision making, in his life, not only made him to be adequately self supportive, but also gave him an opportunity to provide employment to around 37 persons, in his neighborhood, some of them being trained candidates from this Center.

He had an opportunity to take part in the Industrial Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and the Center encourage and supported him to successfully showcase his venture, organized by Ministry of Social Justice & Employment, Government of India..He was honored as the Best Handicapped Employer by the Government of West Bengal. Once on the right road growth doesn’t stop. Like anybody he is equally ambitious and at present he has started another project on painting in collaboration with Frontier Textiles Pvt. Ltd, Howrah.

Today Md. Alam is happily married and respectable family man having 3 children dependent on him. He was engaged in hiring bus tires which was his main source of Income but too meager to run his family. On his registration he was counseled as to how to enhance his income and motivated to learn vulcanizing. He was placed at a nearby unit for short term training.

After completion of training with the concerted effort of the team at the Center and our extension center RREC-Uluberia, helped him to prepare a project proposal for required financial support of Rs. 1, 25000/- to local Union Bank, After proper verification and completing of all formalities Bank authority sanctioned the said amount and he started his self employment venture in Vulcanizing with his existing one.

Our Extension Unit’s official monitor and mentors proper utilization of the loan and repayment for sustainability. Now, he is earning around Rs.10, 000/- PM and his loan amount is about to be cleared.

A journey well done, today he is a successful entrepreneur financially stable himself but supports 6 more like him employing them in his venture as salesman. At the time when he approached the Center he was a SBI Life Insurance agent earning Rs. 3000/- PM which was insufficient and was looking for options for betterment of his livelihood. Timely and systematic guidance from the Center facilitate him to take up another RCM products agency which he successfully runs with the financial assistance from SBI Local Branch. Today his monthly income is around Rs.12000/- and he is prompt in repayment of loan.

Today, he is happily married with his wife employed as a clerk, in a nearby school, and is the proud father of a son.

 

 

4. Sonamoni Sutradhar is an aspirant of VRC PwD Salt Lake LABS 4th Batch . She hails from a small village in Coochbehar District of West Bengal where she worked as a Daily Laborer. She suffers from Polio on her right Leg. Despite her Post-Polio Paralysis she is very strong in her mind. She completed her 10th from a Govt School in Coochbehar and due to financial constraints could not pursue further. She had the determination to be self sufficient and to support her family ,so she started looking for a decent regular job. During this period Sonamoni came to know about PwD LABS from a local NGO. With nothing to lose, she travelled around 180 KM to enroll herself to PwD LABS at VRC, Salt Lake, Kolkata and completed a three month course on BPO. Most importantly, her time at LABS boosted her self-confidence and communication Skills. All this went in her favour when she went for an interview to Prithvi Information Solutions. She got the job as a “Customer Care Executive” at a salary of Rs. 4,500 with PF & ESI. Sonamani is happy with her job. As per the feedback she learned many life skills from LABS. She never loses hope and she also says that “WHERE THERE IS WILL THERE IS A WAY”. JUST A BEGINNING MADE

5. 30 yrs old Debjani Das is one such determined example of our aspirants who has fought against the financial condition and family problems with a great resoluteness. She belongs to middle class family. Her Husband is working in a small firm and he is the only one earning member of the family. She has a great responsibility toward her family. Debjani had a determination to help her family in spite of Deformity of right forefinger. Once she heard about the LABS from one of her friend . She came to LABS to join the training. 

After giving the Interest Inventory test she was selected in ITES Domain. She had an eagerness to learn about that subject, it was her first time to know what is Computer and how to operate it. She took the training and it helped her to get a job. She gave 1st interview in Aditya Birla Minacs but during training period, she  was unable to clear the mock call session and then after went for 2nd Interview she was selected in IKF Technologies Limited as a Customer Care Executive. She is getting Rs.5000- per month and handsome incentive.

 She has shared that she is very much benefited by the course of LABS. According to her “everyone should think positive in life to achieve the destination”. All the facilitators have shown me the way of a better future. I am grateful to them.

6. Bhola Sheik is a 21 years old person. He is a self confident, responsible and hardworking person. He lost his hearing ability and family in childhood. A feeble economical condition was the only resource of him. Undaunted by his tribulations he continued his studies and cleared his 10th. He completed his study from Howrah South Point Ashaneer Orphanage. Bhola Sheik wanted to endure his life. After completion of his secondary he joins in Dr. Reddy’s Foundation. Most of all he is an intelligent aspirant. He was very eager to know about new things. He joins LABS in ITES Domain to uplift his skill and of course to know about computer knowledge. He joined LABS to be smart. He realizes that whatever LABS shows is the right way to enlighten the career. He wants to fulfill his dream. After his training he got selected in CCD as a Team Member. Now he is earning Rs.5328 /- with Incentive. He got back his confidence and attitude. He is doing his job with a great enthusiasm. The former helpless life is the inspiration of his success. According to him the LABS is “the door way of new Successful Life”. And now he leads a happy, respectful life

 

 

7. Mohan Mandal was an aspirant of PwD Salt Lake LABS. He took his training under ITES Domain. The time he came to register at the LABS was a perfect one according to his words, “I am in need of a job with any salary”.  During the parents meeting brought his father who is a Daily worker. According to his father a job was necessary for him at any cost to do the needful. In spite of his Challenge in Krstor Scbusis one Ceniver dewl spine he  was ready to prepare himself  him for  the job.

The three months training changed the direction of  Mohan Mandal’s  life and he got a job in Shrisay Solution as a Back Office Executive with the salary of Rs.3500/- month With PF & ESI. His Father came to congratulate the facilitator of the LABS. Mohan Mandal is happy and confident to move ahead,  he shared that he was not able to move alone before, but now he is going to the organization with a great confidence. As per his voice” LABS give the youth like me the opportunity to identify their potential”.
